Hosted every October, the Fort Clinch Confederate Garrison is one of only two weekends each year the Fort goes gray. Possessed by Federal forces for a majority of the war, only Florida Militia occupied the fort for a small period of time in the early war period. This event is to depict Confederate forces, not Florida Militia, though they never officially occupied the fort.
Fort Clinch is an original Civil War era fort still standing on the beaches of Amelia Island, overlooking the mouth of the St. Mary's River and Georgia. We sleep in the original barracks, eat food cooked in the original kitchen, and drill on the original parade ground. There are no battles, so it is a relaxing weekend to catch up on drill and enjoy the history of the fort.
