About the event
Event Info:
Help us garrison an original Civil War fort! Sleep in the barracks, drill on the parade field, and post guard mount on the walls. Though it was unfinished at the start of the war, Fort Clinch was occupied by Secessionist forces in 1861. They remained until Robert E. Lee, commanding the department, sensed it's impending fall to the Federal Navy and ordered it evacuated. We will stay in the original barracks (if camping in tents you must camp outside the fort), eat food cooked in the original kitchen, drill on the original parade ground, and patrol the original walls. This is a special event and only available to us due to the tireless restoration work by members of our own battalion.
More information about the Fort and the park can be found on the state park's website here.
